Pliny summarizes this book by comparing different regions and the valuable goods they provide to humans. Pliny speaks about Italy ad the fruits and recourses this region provides. Pliny also talks about India and Arabia and the precious stones that have been discovered. This last chapter highlights one of Pliny's main points regarding imperialism and the trade of goods and interaction between different places (Gibson, 62). Imperialism offers knowledge which is very important to Pliny the Elder. Not only does imperialism create an exchange between provinces but allows for the introduction of other cultures, customs, and goods. Imperialism is the start of an important process for humans that changed the trajectory for humankind.
