Conclusion

Pliny and I do hope you understand more the way these animals were used in Roman culture, entertainment, and warfare. The elephant, an animal that could be used to destroy cities as well as bring laughs to citizens. The lion, the tiger, and the jaguar, animals that were brought back in order to show Roman power and excellence and used for entertainment. Lastly, the dragon, the large serpent that is so misunderstood. Ancient Romans are not much different than us. We don't use the elephant for war anymore, but we do kill it, we do capture them and force them to perform, just like they did. We capture lions and tigers and stick them in our zoos for the people's entertainment, just like Romans did in their colosseums. And the dragon, once seen as a kingly serpent, now reduced to myth. The Romans were truly ahead of their time.
