Exploitation of Animals for Transportation

This part of the exhibit looks to demonstrate how Romans exploited animals for labor and transportation. They had used a variety of animals to do so, which could be looked at as inhumane through modern perspectives. Where this exhibit is most interesting, however, is how it connects with modern uses of animals. People in these times exploit animals just as much, if not more so, than did the Romans. Pliny's text illuminates to us that we are not so different from the Romans and hold a moral superiority to them. Pay close attention to which animals are used, and how, and you will see for yourself how we are not all that different.
